Antalya Turkey

Antalya is one of the largest and busiest cities in Turkey. At the Turkish Mediterranean coast is Antalya tourism, but also the cultural center. The port city has long pebble beaches with very clear, turquoise water.

On the evening can be found in Antalya many entertainment venues like discos, casinos (both for example in Antalya Falez Hotel), and of course lots of restaurants and bars. Antalya is one of the few resorts on the south coast of Turkey, where you also can experience classical concerts. In the modern metropolis you can also excellent shopping.

From Antalya you can see also some interesting trips. In the vicinity are impressive ruins of cities like Aspendos, Perge and Termessos. Very nice, the boat trips. This may be the beautiful coastal scenery from the water view. The boats make in beautiful bays, where you will swim, snorkel or dive. With a little luck you will meet on dolphins or large turtles. Experienced divers should not expect too much.

Antalya was already around 200 BC populated. The city was awarded in honor of its founder Attalus, the King of Pergamon 18, the name Attalia. Later it was the present name Antalya. Antalya developed with its port early to a major trading town and was also a strategically important point in wars and crusades.

Very interesting is also the historical part of Antalya. High on a cliff sits the old town Kaleici. From up there you have a wonderful view of the harbour and the sea. In addition, there is the symbol of Antalya - in the 13th Built-century Yivli Minaret. The Yivli Minaret is a more than 40 meters high, pointed zulaufender tower, which looks as it would consist of several very closely zusammenstehenden pillars. Embellished the Yivli Minaret with blue tiles.

Another major attraction is the Hadrianstor. It was during a visit by Emperor in the year 130 AD and is nearly 2000 years old. The Hadrianstor is on the magnificent mile Ataturk Cad. Today marks the gate with its massive marble arches the transition from the modern part of the large city of Antalya into the historic Old Town.

Amid the old city of Antalya, the Kesik Minare - translated: “abandoned the minaret”. It is one of the oldest buildings, probably from the same period of construction as the Hadrianstor. He was named the Kesik Minare, because after several centuries is canceled.

Very nice is also a stroll along the marina of Antalya. Here you can find in one of the cafes or restaurants a break and the magnificent view of the harbor to enjoy. In the port area, except there are also many local shops, so that there is always quite lively approaching.

The museum (Müzesi) from Antalya is a collection of many historically significant finds. The exhibition includes sculptures of the Roman and Greek gods as well as some impressive sarcophagi.

A walk through the old town of Antalya is worthwhile not only because of the many historic buildings, but also because of the wonderful view of the bay and the port. In addition, there are many beautiful in Antalya-scale gardens and parks.
